Below are examples of some of the artwork I have created over recent years. As an Art teacher for thirty five plus years, I have had to develop a wide range of skills, in a wide range of media, to cater for my students demands. I believe a real 'Artist' has to have a comprehensive skill base, before venturing into the 'techniques' of 'Modern Art'. Much 'Modern Art' is based on 'Naive' art (child-like art) with an emphsis on explanation of the work, rather than on artistic merit. Of course everyone is an artist, to some degree and art is subjective - there is room in the world for 'artworks' that involves throwing splashes of colour at a canvas, or imitating a child. But, for me, a full understanding of all aspects of visual representation is what sets an 'Artist' apart from the 'Modern Art' creators.
